Edward, by the grace of God King of England, Lord of Ireland and Duke of Aquitaine, to the Archbishops, Bishops, Abbots, Priors, Earls, Barons, Justices, Sheriffs, Prevosts, Ministers and to all his Bailiffs and faithful subjects, Greeting. Know ye that We, of Our especial favour, have granted and by this Our Charter have confirmed unto Our beloved and faithful Hugh Le Despenser the younger, that he and his heirs, and their Burgesses and other men and tenants of Kerdyf, Vsk, Kaerlion, Neuport, Coubrugge, Neeth and Kenefeg in Wales shall be quit of toll, murage, pontage, panage, lastage, stallage, picage, tronage quayage, terrage, as also of all other customs and customary dues in respect of all their things and goods, to wit as well merchandises as others, for ever, throughout Our whole kingdom, and Our duchy of Aquitaine and Our land of Ireland, and elsewhere throughout Our dominions; the customs of wools, leather, hides, woolfells and wines due unto Us and our heirs nevertheless excepted. Wherefore We will and firmly enjoin, for Us and Our heirs, that the same Hugh and his heirs, and their Burgesses and other men and tenants of the aforesaid Vills of Kerdif, Vsk, Kaerlionn, Neuport, Coubrugge, Neeth and Kenefeg, in Wales, shall be quit of toll, murage, pontage, panage, lastage, stallage, picage, tronage, quayage, terrage, as also of all other customs and customary dues, in respect of all their things and goods, to wit as well merchandises as others, for ever, throughout Our whole kingdom, and Our duchy of Aquitaine and Our land of Ireland, and elsewhere throughout Our dominions; the customs of wools, leather, hides, woolfells and wines due unto Us and Our heirs nevertheless excepted, as is aforesaid. Grant to Hugh le Despenser, the younger, that he and his heirs and their burgesses and other tenants of Kaerdif, Usk, Kaerlion, Neuport, Coubrigge, Neeth, and Kenefec in Wales, shall be quit of all their goods and merchandise of toll, murage, pontage, pavage, lestage, stallage, picage, tronage, quayage, terrage, and all other customs through all the king's realm, and his duchy of Aquitaine, and his land of Ireland and elsewhere in his power, excepting the customs of wools, hides, wool fells and wines.

By charter, Edward II granted to Hugh le Despenser the younger that he, his heirs and their burgesses find other men and tenants of Kerdif, Usk, Kaerlion, Neuport, Coubrugge, Neeth and Kenefeg in Wales should be quit of toll, murage, pontage, pavage, lastage, stallage, piccage, tronage, quayage, terrage and all other customs throughout the realm, customs on wool, hides, wool-fells and wine only excepted, and the king, on the petition of his kinswoman, Elizabeth de Burgo, who has obtained the lordship of the said towns of Usk and Kaerlion, has granted that she shall have the liberties aforesaid for her burgesses and men there.

The like, {Inspeximus and confirmation} in favour of the burgesses and others of Usk and Kaerlion, of letters patent dated 15 October, 16 Edward III., being a confirmation to them of their immunity from toll, murage, pontage, pavage and other customs throughout England, the duchy of Acquitaine, and Ireland, as granted by Edward II.
For 2 marks paid in the hanaper
