Plymouth was given a grant of murage dated 15/5/1485.
This was in the form of:-
Grant of money:- for 20 years of 100 marcs p.a. from customs and subsidies of Plymouth and Fowey Starting 15/5/1485 running to 14/5/1505.
Wording
Grant to the mayor and commonalty of the town of Plymmouth, in lieu of a grant to then by letters patent dated 9 January, 1 Richard III, surrendered, of 100 marks yearly for 20 years from that date from the customs in the ports of Plymmouth and Fowey and ports and places adjacent, to be expended on the construction of the walls of the town by the supervision of the prior of Plympton. By p.s.
Mandate in pursuance to the collectors of the customs.
