Dublin was given a grant of murage dated 26/11/1358.

GRANT permission to mayor, bailiffs and community of Dublin to continue to levy tolls for the repair and construction of the Tholsel, bridges and other works necessary for the city, during 15 years after the termination of the ten years named in the grant of 25 April 1343, and with similar arrangements in relation to rendering the accounts. This grant is in recognition of services rendered by the citizens in resisting frequent attacks by Irish enemies. The tolls specified correspond with those enumerated on 31 Oct. 1336, viz.:
of every load of corn, wheat and malt, 1/4d;
of every ox, bull and cow, 1/2d;
of every stone of wool, 1/4d;
of every 100 sheepskins, 1d;
of every 100 skins of lamb, rabbit, kid, hare, wolf and cat, 1/2d;
of every skin of stag and deer, 1/4d;
of every dacre of goatskins, fresh or tanned, 1/2d;
or every piece of woollen cloth of Ire. or Wales, exceeding six ells, 1/4d;
of every cloth of silk, satin, diaper and baudekin, 1d;
of every cloth of assise of Flanders, Normandy and Brabant, 2d;
of every 100 of linen cloth, English or French, 1d;
of every whole piece of worsted, 1/2d;
of every piece of Tynet, 1/4d;
of every piece of Irish linen cloth, exceeding eight ells, 1/4d

In the listing of
sample images on the CIRCLE web site this is called a grant of murage. Walls are not specifically mentioned although it is possible that repairs of walls and gates was part of this grant. The previous grant wasn't due to expire for another couple of years but it seems Dublin did like to get grants well in advance. I suppose this allowed for forward planning and produced some sense of financial security.
