in 1414, work was begun on building stone walls, which necessitated the destruction of 30 burgages, and further additions were made in the years 1536-38. (Soulsby)
Small amounts payable out of the general issues of the Principality were expended on their reparation during the reigns of Henry VII. and Henry VIII. (fn. E.g. Min. Acc. (North Wales), 14 Henry VII., No. 1595; 27 Henry VIII., No. 163.). (Lewis)
Lewis ref. for 27 Hen VIII appears incorrect, it is certainly out of date, - The given ref. seems to be for the accounts 6-7 Hen VIII Buckingham, &c. - my ref 5463 is catalogued as Account of chamberlain of North Wales for 27-28 Hen VIII but does need confirmation.
