Bordeaux (Burdegale) was given a grant of murage dated 26/6/1224.

De pecunia mutuo data. Rex omnibus ad quos presentes littere pervenerint, salutem. Noveritis quod illis qui pecuniam mutuo dederint dilecto et fideli nostro S. de Malo Leone, senescallo nostro Pictavie et Wasconie, usque ad summam mille marcarum ad negocia nostra in Pictavia facienda, et ad defensionem terre nostre Pictavie, eisdem qui pecuniam illam mutuo dederint, vel eorum certis nunciis has litteras nostras deferentibus simul cum litteris predicti S. senescalli nostri mutuum illud testifieantibus, inde in Anglia satisfaciemus. Teste rege, apud Bedeford, xxvj die Junii, anno regni nostri viij, coram justiciario et Bathoniensi et Sarresburiensi episcopis.
Eodem modo scribitur omnibus etc. de quingentis {substituted for 'trescentis'} marcis pro hominibus Burdegale ad clausuram murorum et fossatorum civitatis Burdegale, hoc apposite, 'in Anglia satisfaciemus ad instans festum Sancti Michaelis anno octavo.' Teste ut supra.
