To the keepers of the maritime land in co. Southampton. Order not to compel the men of the suburbs of Winchester to find any men at arms or others outside the city, while they are staying in the city, in accordance with the king's ordinance, lest enemies invading those parts should take possession of their victuals or other goods, and that they should contribute towards repairing the walls of the city, keeping watch and doing other things for its defence, according to their faculty, with the other citizens, and the king has learned that the keepers compel them to find men for the custody of the maritime land upon the sea coast, whereupon they have besought the king to provide a remedy.
