He suggests this may be the Woodhouse moat at SO647771. This is recorded as a moat and fishpond of an Austin Friary founded 1250. This foundation does not seem to be based on a defunct manor so this is quite unlikely as the site of a castle (which will have been, most likely, an ordinary manor house, perhaps with some slight defenses, given a castle name because of its administrative and legal function). More likely sites for such a 'castle' would be The Manor at SO637765 or possibly Hopton Court at SO640765 although both of these are recorded as C18 houses in the Shropshire HER. The given map reference is for the parish church.
