Pernell late the wife of John Fleming of Southampton (Pernell late the wife of John le Flemmeng of Suthampton) was granted an exemption from murage dated 28/3/1268.
Wording
Grant, at the instance of Queen Eleanor, to Pernell late the wife of John le Flemmeng of Suthampton, that all those who during her lifetime with her licence sojourn or are lodged for carrying on or selling her merchandise in her capital mansions, late of Ralph Isambard, and in her capital mansions late of Walter le Flemmeng in Suthampfcon, shall be quit of payment of murage in the town of Suthampton as well by land as by water so long as they sojourn in the said mansions ; and that they be not named or distrained for any debt whereof they are not principal debtors or pledges.
