Hartlepool (Hertilpole) was given a grant of murage dated 10/2/1328.

Grant to the men of Hertilpole, towards the enclosing of the town, of 100 marks from the 160l. due at Easter, 1329, by Robert de Musgrave of Newcastle-on-Tyne for victuals purchased by him from the late king; upon payment whereof the said Robert, and William de Kougate, Laurence de Dunolm' and Stephen le Mercer, his pledges, are to be discharged of the said sum. By K. & C.

I presume the money was to be repaid early and that this was, at least in part, the reason for such a considerable reduction in amount due.
