Southampton was given a grant of murage dated 5/11/1382.

This was in the form of:-

Wording
Pardon to the mayor, burgesses and good men of Southampton, for the better guarding and maintenance of their walls, of 100l. yearly from the farm of their town for three years from 1 December next, at which date previous pardon for three years of their whole farm, granted in aid of the building of the said walls, expires.
