Newcastle-upon-Tyne was given a grant of murage dated 24/3/1332.

This was in the form of:-

Wording
Grant to the mayor and bailiffs of Newcastle-upon-Tyne of murage for ten years from the expiration of the grant of the same for seven years dated 3 February 1 Edward III., to be taken by Adam de Galeweye, Richard de Acton, John de Denton and John Wodeman, or two of them. By p.s.
----
October 11. 1335. Berwick-on-Tweed. 9 Edward III
Mandate to the mayor and bailiffs of the town of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, reciting a grant to them by letters patent of 3 February, 1 Edward III. of murage for seven years, a further grant in enlargement thereof that at the expiration of the said seven years they should take for a further term of ten years by the hands of Adam de Galeweye, Richard de Acton, John de Denton and John Wodeman, the same customs to be applied in walling their town, and in repairing their bridge, and the subsequent appointment of John de Galeweye as one of the collectors in place of the said Adam then deceased, to take the customs for the remainder of the term by the hands of Thomas Daulyn, Robert de Shilvyngton and Richard de Galeweye, because the king for certain causes does not wish the former collectors to intermeddle further in the collection, and to apply the money arising therefrom in walling their town and to no other uses, inasmuch as the work of the bridge is now being completed by view and testimony of John de Denton, Richard de Acton and Hugh de Hecham.

Comments
Whereas murage grants were usually issued 'on the nod' and audit orders are semi-automatic or response to pleas of improprieties, these careful provisions for Newcastle do suggest active royal (i.e. administrative or Council) interest. The work … was a major programme and the town a major port significant for supply of Scottish war (as was Hull) though not within reach (?) of Scottish raids (Coulson).
Although supposedly to run from end of previous grant in practice ended 10 years after date of grant.
