Newcastle-upon-Tyne was given a grant of murage dated 4/6/1311.

Grant, for a term of five years, to the bailiffs and good men of the town of Newcastle-on-Tyne, of murage, to be levied by Richard de Emeldou, Nicholas de Ellerker, John de Ellerker, Laurence de Dunelm and John de Eyville, burgesses of the town, who are to account for all sums of money received for that purpose.
