Nottingham (Notingham) was given a grant of murage dated 27/10/1285.

Grant to the bailiffs and good men of Notingham of murage for five years from Martinmas next, in extension of a former grant for five years from the Invention of the Cross, 8 Edward I.

Comments
The former grant was from the Invention of St. Stephen (3 August - an obscure feast day) which the calendarists marked 'sic' although this date concurred with the date of the grant. Is 'Invention of the Cross' (3 May) an error by the original Chancery scribe or a 'correction' by the calendarist?
