Carrick-on-Suir (Carrigmcgryffyn) was given a grant of murage dated 20/11/1347.

To the T. or his duputy and barons of the Ex.
ORDER, because the K. has granted aid to the provost and community of the town of Carrigmcgryffyn in order to help them repair their stone walls and build up the bridges of the town, to exonerate them from rendering the customary dues at the Ex.

Granted by Edward III. (Regnal year 21).

Presumably this remission was a one off for one year. Clear evidence that stone walls were in existence at this date.
