In 1407 they recieved a royal donation of £10 'in aid of making a ditch around the aforesaid town' (Soulsby-Ref HKW)
When the burgesses recieved a donation of £10 from the prince in 1407 'in aid of making a ditch round the aforesaid town' the wording implies that it was an entirely new work (SC 6/1216/2). (HKW)
