Comments
no murage grants are known but there are reference to accounts which seem to suggest that a grant was active, unless the murage money was collected for somewhere else (as happens at Navan) - Pipe Rolls for 1322-3 and 1344-5 (Bradley 1985; Gleeson and Leask 1936, quoting Rep DK 42/42 and 70; 45/33; 47/24; 54/27). In 1344-5 over £60 of murage money was involved and the account referred to the 'villate of Nenagh'. There is a slightly earlier Pipe Roll account, 1301-4 (Rep DK 38/92, quoted by Bradley 1985, 58) for Lotragh (Latteragh/ Letteragh) 10km SE of Nenagh in the gap route to Thurles, which may actually apply to Nenagh because the two names seem to be closely associated (Graham pers. comm.).
