GRANT of murage for three years from 22 July {1310} next to the bailiffs and men of Adare to enclose the town with a stone wall. The following customs are granted on merchandise coming to the town for sale:
from each crannock of corn, 1/2d;
from each crannock of salt, 1/4d;
from each horse, mare, hobby, ox or cow, 1/2d;
from each carcass of ox or cow, 1/2d;
from each hide of ox, cow, hobby, horse or mare, fresh, salted or tanned, 1/2d;
from each 5 bacon-hogs {bacones}, 1d;
from each 10 sheep or goats, 1d;
from each 5 pigs, 1d;
from each 10 lambs, 1d;
from each 100 skins of sheep, shorn or unshorn, 2d;
from each 100 skins of lambs, martens, goats, hares, rabbits, foxes, cats or squirrels, 1/2d;
from each 100 skins of harts, hinds, bucks and does, 1d;
from each 100 of Irish cloth, 4d;
from each 100 of linen cloth, 2d;
from each entire English cloth of whatever colour, 2d;

Some time prior to the year 1310 the town appears, from ancient records, to have been incorporated, as in that year a grant of murage and customs was made by Edw. II. to "the bailiffs and good men of the town of Adare;" (Lewis)
