Cashel (Cassell) was given a grant of murage dated 1/3/1320.

Rex ballivis & probis hominibus de Casell salutem Sciatis quod concessimus vobis in subsidium ville praedicte cum muro lapideo claudende quod a festo Sancti David' Episcopi anno r' n' xiii usque ad terminum quinque annorum proximo sequens plenar' completoram capiatis in eadem villa cons' subscriptas videlicet de quolibet crannoco frumenti fabarum pisarum & cujuscumque generis bladi ven' unum den' &c. in forma consueta Et ideo &c' T' Rogero de mortuo mari Justic &c' apud Drogheda xxxo die febr' anno supradicto.

The king to the ballifs and good men of Casell greetings. Know I have conceded to you, to help enclose the said town with a stone wall, from the feast of St David Bishop in the 13th year of our reign until the end of 5 years fully next following to suitably take in the same town the customs written below as follows;
For each crannock of wheat, beans, peas and any sort of type of corn for sale 1 penny
and so on in the ordinary form.
And therefore and so on. Witnessed Roger Mortimer Justice and so on at Drogheda 30th day of February in the above written year.

'By a charter of the 30th February, 13 Edw. II., (a. n. 1319,) enrolled, (Rot. Pat. Edward II. 13 Edw. II. a. 79,) the King granted to the bailiffs and good men of Cashell certain murage customs for five years.' (MCI)
30th of Feb.? The rate is high (a farthing is the rate Drogheda 1317 grant although Dublin was taking 4d) but this will have raised money but also possibly dissent.
