Ross (Ross) petitioned for a grant of murage in 7/1/1291.
Wording
Nature of request: The Brothers Preacher in Ireland make five requests:
1) They ask that they might be able to receive new sites to occupy at Kilmallock and Rathangan, and to expand their sites there and elsewhere in Ireland where they are in need.
2) They ask that merchants and other friends of the order might be able to bequeath buildings, stalls and other things of that kind to them, and that they might be able to receive them and sell them to others.
3) They request the king's letters of protection for themselves and their possessions.
4) They request murage in New Ross, for as long as the king wishes, to build a bridge there.
5) They request some maintenance, for the sake of the queen's soul.

Comments
'Irish Ancient Petitions' p.17 dates this petition to 1291. (National Archive note)
Why murage for a bridge? No murage for Ross granted at this time, nor have I identified a grant of pontage.
