One of Mike Salter's fine county gazetteers, although the histories and descriptions can come from elderly sources. This is a fairly comprehensive guide to the castles and fortified houses of Powys. The detail on individual sites is good, although many minor sites are just listed. The book is well illustrated and the plan and diagrams are very good. This second edition is an improvement on the first in terms of looks and in some increased content.
